ISLAMABAD: Singapore has announced $50,000 in humanitarian aid for flood-affected communities in Pakistan.
In a statement, Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the contribution would act as seed funding to support the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) in its public fundraising drive for victims of the disaster.
The government’s aid will be in addition to the SRC’s own pledge of $50,000 to meet urgent community needs. Singapore also extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the floods.
The Pakistan Embassy in Singapore welcomed the assistance, noting that it reflects Singapore’s solidarity with Pakistan during this crisis and will help ongoing relief and recovery work for affected families.
The SRC had launched its fundraising appeal last week in response to the mid-August monsoon floods, already committing $39,000 towards humanitarian relief, which will now be further supported by the government’s contribution.
