Islamabad declares public holiday for August 13

ISLAMABAD: After the announcement of a public holiday on August 14 for Independence Day, another holiday has been declared this month, as per the reported.

According to a notification issued on August 12, the Islamabad administration has declared a holiday for August 13 (tomorrow). Essential services, however, will continue to operate as usual.

Earlier, the Sindh government had announced a public holiday on Saturday, August 9, to mark the 282nd annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

Meanwhile, ahead of Independence Day celebrations, Islamabad authorities have banned the sale and use of ‘baajas’ (vuvuzelas) in the federal capital.

Such items, often used during festivities, can cause disturbance, and their use has been prohibited in previous years as well. The deputy commissioner has warned that anyone found violating the ban will face legal action.

On August 14, 2025, Pakistan will celebrate its 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm across the country.

The day marks the nation’s independence from British rule in 1947 and will be observed with patriotic fervour, flag-hoisting ceremonies, and cultural events.

Cities including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar will be decorated with green and white flags, lights, and other festive adornments.

Public and private institutions will hold seminars, parades, and musical programmes, while schools and colleges will organise debates and poetry competitions to engage the youth in patriotic activities.
