The Chief Executive Officer of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Muhammad Naeem Jan, announced on Friday that a new initiative called Apna Meter Apni Reading has been launched as part of ongoing reforms.
A key feature of this initiative is the introduction of the Power Smart Application, which aims to involve consumers directly in the electricity billing process.
He explained that both the government and the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) are making consistent efforts to address consumer concerns promptly and ensure the provision of affordable electricity.
“Using this smart application, consumers will be able to take their own meter readings every month on the designated date and send them to IESCO, which will help timely, accurate, error-free, and transparent meter readings,” he said in a statement issued on the day.
This step has been taken to eliminate issues like incorrect or delayed readings, often caused by meter readers.
The goal is to empower consumers through the use of technology so they can monitor their electricity usage more closely and ensure their bills are accurate.
Jan further stated that, following the government’s directives, all IESCO offices have been equipped with the necessary tools and have received proper instructions.
Moreover, a wide-ranging awareness campaign has been launched to educate the public about how to use the app and take advantage of its features.
The idea is to ensure that every consumer can benefit from this helpful step taken by the government.
He also emphasized that the move will help build greater public trust in IESCO and bring more transparency to the billing process.
IESCO remains committed to introducing policies that prioritize the needs and convenience of its consumers, and this latest campaign is a continuation of that approach.
