Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro series, marking one of the biggest upgrades in recent years with a new aluminum unibody design, enhanced displays, reworked cameras, and larger batteries.
Design and Display
The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max come with Series 7000 aluminum frames, anodized for extra durability, available in silver, deep blue, and cosmic orange.
Both front and back panels feature Ceramic Shield glass, while the display gets an improved Ceramic Shield 2, said to be three times more scratch-resistant and four times stronger against cracks.
The Pro model has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display, while the Pro Max offers a 6.9-inch screen. Both deliver ProMotion 120Hz refresh rates, Always-On functionality, 3,000 nits peak brightness, and a seven-layer anti-reflective coating for better visibility outdoors.
Performance and Software
Powered by the A19 Pro chip built on a 3nm process, the devices pack a six-core CPU, a six-core GPU with hardware Ray Tracing, and a 16-core Neural Engine for Apple Intelligence features. Apple says the chip delivers performance on par with MacBook Pros.
For the first time, Apple has included a vapour chamber cooling system, boosting sustained performance by 40%. The new N1 chip ensures support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity. Both models run iOS 26, which debuts the Liquid Glass design interface.
Camera System
The biggest overhaul comes with the 48MP telephoto camera, equipped with a 100mm f/2.8 lens, tetraprism optical setup, and sensor-shift stabilization, offering 4x optical zoom and up to 8x (200mm) digital zoom. Alongside it are a 48MP wide-angle and a 48MP ultrawide camera.
On the front, an 18MP square Center Stage camera automatically adjusts framing for group shots and keeps subjects centered during video calls.
For video, Apple has expanded professional tools with ProRes RAW, Log 2, genlock, and integration with Final Cut Camera 2.0 and Blackmagic Camera, in addition to Dolby Vision HDR and 4K at 120fps.
Battery and Storage
Though Apple has not disclosed capacities, the new Pro models are said to last up to 39 hours of video playback, two hours longer than before. In select markets, eSIM-only versions will feature slightly larger batteries.
Storage options start at 256GB, with the Pro maxing out at 1TB and the Pro Max offering up to 2TB. Pricing begins at $1,099 for the iPhone 17 Pro (256GB) and $1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max (256GB), going up to $1,999 for the 2TB Pro Max.
The iPhone 17 Pro series will roll out in international markets soon, including Pakistan.
