QUETTA: The Balochistan government has announced plans to hold the Basant festival in Quetta shortly after similar celebrations took place in Lahore.
According to reports, preparations for the festival are underway across the city. The event is expected to bring lively kite flying, music and local cultural performances, creating a festive environment for residents and visitors.
City markets are witnessing heavy activity as people purchase kites, strings and other items related to the Basant celebration, increasing excitement among the public.
Quetta Basant 2026 Dates
Officials stated that the festival will be celebrated for three days from February 13 to 15, which falls from Friday to Sunday.
Local shopkeepers said kite sales have increased significantly in recent days, especially among young people who are eagerly waiting for the festival.
“The enthusiasm among the youth is incredible. Everyone is gearing up to make the most of this celebration,” said one local vendor.
A resident shared that events like Basant spread happiness among people and strengthen social connections.
Some residents have also advised authorities to ensure that the festival is organised safely and within legal limits to prevent incidents that occurred in the past.
