Pakistan announces Ramadan 2026 banking schedule

KARACHI: Working hours for both public and private banks across Pakistan will be shortened during the holy month of Ramadan 2026.

Ramadan is expected to begin on either Thursday, February 19, 2026, or Friday, February 20, 2026, depending on the sighting of the moon in the country.

If the month of Shaban lasts 29 days, Ramadan will start on February 19. In case Shaban completes 30 days, the holy month will begin on February 20.

The moon sighting that determines the start of Ramadan is likely to take place on the evening of February 18. If the crescent is visible, fasting will begin the next day, on February 19. If not, Ramadan will commence on February 20.

Bank Office Hours During Ramadan

During the holy month, bank offices are expected to operate from Monday to Thursday between 09:00 AM and 03:00 PM, without any break. On Fridays, offices will remain open from 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM, also without a break.

Public Dealing Hours

For customer services, banks will be open from Monday to Thursday from 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM. On Fridays, public dealing hours will be from 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM, without any break.

These revised timings will remain in effect throughout Ramadan to ease the routine of fasting staff and customers. Once the holy month ends, banks will return to their regular working hours.
