Authorities in Sialkot have announced the closure of 80 government schools until September 10 due to flooding.
Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali said that several schools have been hit by floodwaters, with some still submerged.
Acting on the instructions of the School Education Department, the district administration decided to keep them closed until the situation improves.
She added that in Tehsil Sialkot, many schools will remain shut from September 8 to 10, while classes have also been suspended in parts of Daska, Pasrur, and Sambrial.
Officials stressed that the safety of children is the top priority, as floodwater continues to pose risks to school buildings and their surroundings.
