The Sindh government has declared Thursday, August 15, a public holiday to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
A notification from the Sindh Education Department stated that all public and private educational institutions in the province will remain closed on that day.
Chehlum is observed on the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala, with religious gatherings and processions expected across Sindh.
This holiday comes right after Independence Day on Wednesday, August 14, meaning schools and colleges will have two consecutive days off.
Institutions have been asked to adjust their academic schedules accordingly, while relevant departments will ensure smooth arrangements for Chehlum events and public safety.
