Two local holidays announced in Islamabad

Islamabad has declared two local holidays on April 9 and 10, 2026, according to an official notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate.

The holidays will fall on Thursday and Friday and will apply to all areas within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), giving residents a longer break.

Authorities have clarified that essential services will continue to operate as usual during the holidays. Important departments that will remain functional include the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Capital Development Authority (CDA), ICT Administration, ICT Police, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), along with all public and private hospitals.

As per the notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, 9th and 10th April 2026 (Thursday & Friday) have been declared Local Holidays within the revenue limits of Islamabad Capital Territory.

Officials have advised citizens to manage their plans accordingly, as routine government offices are likely to remain closed on both days.

The decision is expected to help reduce congestion and provide convenience to residents, while making sure that essential services stay available.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has officially invited delegations from the United States and Iran to Islamabad on April 10, 2026, for talks aimed at reaching a final peace agreement following the temporary ceasefire.

These discussions will mark the first face-to-face meeting between the two sides since tensions in the conflict escalated.
