The Sindh government has issued a strict warning to transporters, saying vehicles will be impounded if traffic laws and route permit conditions are not fully observed.
Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said all vehicles must remain within approved speed limits and drivers should avoid overloading, improper overtaking, and dangerous or fast driving. He stressed that axle load limits set under the National Highway Safety Ordinance must also be followed.
He announced that gas-powered vehicles will no longer be allowed for inter-district transport, including school and college buses.
The minister said public transport vehicles must be equipped with emergency exits and first aid boxes. Only vehicles with complete documentation and drivers holding valid and authentic licences will be permitted to operate.
For long-distance travel, he said vehicles covering 322 kilometres will be required to have two qualified and licensed drivers.
Sharjeel Memon instructed transporters and operators to secure their route permits by February 28, warning that strict action will begin after the deadline.
He said vehicles found violating regulations will be seized, cases will be registered against operators, and the excise department will suspend registrations of non-compliant vehicles.
