Punjab govt launches app for free wheelchairs, mobility aids

LAHORE: The Punjab Social Welfare Department has launched a new mobile app called “Assistive Devices and Wheelchair” to help persons with disabilities request mobility aids and assistive equipment from their homes.

The initiative, introduced under Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Digital Vision, ensures that essential equipment such as wheelchairs can now be delivered right to citizens’ doorsteps with just one click.

Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Sohail Shaukat Butt officially unveiled the app, saying it will make the distribution of assistive devices more convenient across the province.

Persons with disabilities can now apply for wheelchairs and other support items directly through the app without visiting government offices.

The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adwc&hl=en or by searching “Assistive Devices and Wheelchair.”

Speaking at the launch, Minister Sohail Shaukat Butt stated, “Empowering persons with disabilities through digital technology is our mission. The Punjab government is committed to providing them with all possible facilities and ensuring inclusion through innovative solutions.”

He further said the app would also help field officers register, process, and track applications more effectively. The Social Welfare Department has instructed all field officers to download the app and launch awareness campaigns to inform citizens about this new service.
