The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall across the country as a deep depression over North Gujarat, India, is expected to move westwards into adjoining areas of Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours.
According to the Met Office, strong monsoon currents are likely to grip the southern parts of Pakistan, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms.
Sindh: Heavy to very heavy rainfall with gusty winds is likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Mirpurkhas, Umer Kot, Sanghar, Tharparkar, and several other districts from September 7 (evening/night) to September 10, with breaks in between.
Punjab/Islamabad: Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and surrounding areas are expected to receive rain with isolated heavy showers from September 7 to 9. Sporadic rain is also forecast for Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Murree, Gujranwala, Jhelum, and nearby areas during this period.
Balochistan: Showers with scattered heavy falls are likely in Khuzdar, Kalat, Gwadar, Lasbela, Naseerabad, and other districts from September 7 to 10.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rain is expected in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, and adjoining districts from September 7 to 9.
Kashmir: Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Kotli, and Mirpur may also receive rain with isolated heavy showers from September 7 to 9.
Impacts and Warnings:
Authorities have warned of urban flooding in Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana, and other low-lying areas.
Flooding in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, Balochistan, and the Kirthar range is possible between September 8 and 10. Landslides may disrupt roads in upper KP, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir.
Strong winds, heavy rain, and lightning could damage weak structures, electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels. The public, especially travelers and tourists, has been advised to avoid unnecessary movement in vulnerable areas and stay updated on weather alerts.
