KP orders mines to close due to heavy rains

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mines Department has suspended all mining activities due to the ongoing rainfall.

According to an official notification, workers are not allowed to enter either underground or open-surface mines because of serious safety concerns.

Officials warned that the rains have increased the risk of landslides and water accumulation inside mines. There is also a higher chance of electrical hazards and accidents caused by slippery ground conditions.

The department has instructed everyone to strictly follow safety standard operating procedures (SOPs) and reminded workers to put their own safety, as well as the safety of their coworkers, first.
