Murree weather update: Rain and snowfall expected in coming days

Rain along with snowfall is expected in Murree and several of Pakistan’s popular tourist destinations during the current week as well as the coming days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a weak westerly weather system is present over the western regions of the country and is likely to move towards the upper areas later tonight. Continental air continues to dominate weather conditions across the rest of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, rain and snowfall are expected in Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Naran, Kaghan, Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Murree and Galiyat on Friday, Monday and Tuesday, with short breaks in between.

On Saturday and Sunday, most tourist spots are expected to experience partly cloudy skies along with very cold conditions.

Ziarat and nearby areas are likely to remain mostly dry and freezing from Saturday through Tuesday, though light rain and snowfall may occur on Friday.

In terms of temperatures, Murree’s minimum temperature is expected to stay between minus two and zero degrees Celsius on Friday, while on Saturday it may drop further to between minus three and minus one degrees Celsius.

Over the past 24 hours, extremely cold weather has prevailed in Murree, Galiyat and other tourist destinations. Astore recorded the lowest temperature, falling eight degrees Celsius below freezing.

Minimum temperatures were recorded at minus five degrees in Kalam and Skardu, minus four in Malam Jabba, minus three in Hunza, and minus one degree in Gilgit, Dir, Rawlakot and Murree.
