Karachi to face more cold days, warns PMD

Karachi stayed unusually cold on Wednesday as sharp, chilly winds continued to push temperatures down, dipping below 9°C in some parts of the city.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department warned that the cold spell is not over yet, with temperatures expected to fall further toward 10°C in the coming days.

PMD figures show that the lowest temperature was recorded at Jinnah Terminal at 8.9°C. Bin Qasim reported 12.1°C, the Old Airport area saw 12.5°C, while Shahrae Faisal and the Maripur Air Force station posted minimum temperatures of 13.5°C.

According to the Early Warning Centre, cold northeastern winds from Balochistan may drop Karachi’s temperatures by an additional one to two degrees.

On Wednesday, the city recorded a minimum of 8.9°C and a high of 28.4°C, with winds gusting up to 25 km per hour.

The cold was even harsher in rural Sindh, where Mohenjo-daro saw the lowest reading in the province at just 3.8°C, showing how strong the ongoing cold wave has become.

Authorities have urged residents to stay cautious as the cold weather is expected to persist.
