Sindh launches second phase of Pink Scooty Scheme for women

Following the success of its initial launch in September, the Sindh government has announced the beginning of the second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme, confirmed Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

He said the government will soon start handing out scooters under the new phase of the program and encouraged women to get their driving licenses, attend training sessions, and register to take part in the scheme.

Sharjeel added that the provincial administration aims to expand the initiative to help women gain greater mobility and independence, allowing them to travel safely and confidently as they pursue education and career opportunities.

“The first phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme received an overwhelming response from the public,” Sharjeel said. “Dozens of women learned to drive, obtained licences, and began using Pink Scooties for their daily commute.”

Speaking about other public transport projects, he mentioned that the People’s Bus Service, Pink Bus Service, Electric Bus Service, and now the Pink Scooty Scheme were all launched to provide citizens of Karachi with safe, affordable, and respectable travel options.

“Empowering women is not just a government project,” Sharjeel added, “it is part of the Pakistan People’s Party’s social and political philosophy. Women’s empowerment remains a cornerstone of the party’s ideological journey, a continuation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision.”
