IESCO announces new rule for electricity connections

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has announced that the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 for Punjab will take place on October 26.

The test, which decides admission to medical and dental colleges across the province, will be held at the same time in 12 cities. More than 50,000 students have registered to appear this year.

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has made biometric verification compulsory for all new electricity connections and reconnections.

To implement this decision, IESCO Chief Executive Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood and NADRA Technologies CEO Omar Khan Azad signed an agreement.

The new system aims to curb fraudulent activities, ensure accurate customer data, and stop defaulters from obtaining new connections without clearing their dues.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood reaffirmed the company’s dedication to consumer-friendly measures, digitalization, transparency, and improved services in the future.
