ISLAMABAD: Since June 26, flash floods and heavy rains have taken a devastating toll across vulnerable parts of the country, claiming the lives of at least 299 people, including 140 children, and injuring 715 others, with 239 children among the wounded, according to the latest update from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The relentless weather has caused widespread damage, affecting communities already struggling to cope. A total of 1,676 homes were damaged, and 428 livestock perished in the floods, deepening the hardships for many families.
The NDMA reported that out of the 299 lives lost, 102 were men and 57 were women. The 715 injured included 272 men and 204 women.
Rescue operations have been in full swing, with 223 missions conducted to help those stranded, leading to the safe evacuation of 2,880 people from flood-affected zones.
In addition, the NDMA has distributed over 13,000 relief items in hard-hit areas, including 1,999 tents, 61 ration bags, 350 life jackets, 1,122 hygiene kits, and 146 de-watering pumps, aiming to provide urgent support to the displaced and vulnerable.
