ISLAMABAD: The final supermoon of 2025 will brighten Pakistan’s sky on December 04 and 05, drawing crowds of sky lovers to popular viewing spots.
According to Suparco, this supermoon will look up to 7.9% bigger and nearly 15% brighter than an ordinary full moon, as it comes as close as 357,218 kilometers to Earth. This lunar event occurs when the moon moves nearest to our planet.
It will be the third and last supermoon of the year, shining at 99.8 per cent brightness on December 05 at 4:15am. Suparco also noted that on December 04 evening, it will appear 99.2 per cent bright.
People will be able to enjoy the view easily on both nights. The supermoon will be visible worldwide, offering a stunning scene for anyone who enjoys night-sky photography or celestial events.
Earlier, a supermoon appeared on November 5, and another one is set for early January 2026, though it will not fall under the 2025 cycle.
Experts also pointed out that when the supermoon rises close to the horizon, it often looks even larger to the human eye due to an optical illusion, a sight that has intrigued observers for generations.
