Punjab has decided to roll out satellite internet as part of its efforts to improve digital access across the province.
The announcement was made by Anusha Rahman, senior adviser to the Chief Minister and a leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N), during a leadership summit held at a private university in Lahore.
The event centered on blockchain and digital assets, where experts also discussed how new technologies could shape Pakistan’s digital future.
Rahman said the government is working to expand high-speed internet access in areas that still lack it. She explained that satellite internet will help link villages, schools, colleges and hospitals across Punjab.

She pointed out that while people are interested in digital tools, many regions still lack reliable internet connections.
Rahman said Punjab is launching a “Connect the Unconnected” mission to address this gap.
She further shared that the government will soon begin offering satellite-based internet services in the public sector, adding that the provincial IT Department is already working on modern connectivity projects.
According to her, the plan also aims to connect around 6 million young people with modern technology over the next four years.
