As the city prepares for an intense heatwave, K-Electric has announced that it will stop load-shedding to keep electricity available for residents during extreme weather.
A spokesperson shared that a dedicated plan has been put in place to support citizens during the high temperatures. The company has also decided to pause all scheduled maintenance shutdowns for the duration of the heatwave to prevent any disruptions in power supply.
Officials noted that nearly 70 percent of the network is already free from load-shedding, which helps maintain a more consistent supply of electricity across much of the city.

In its official statement, K-Electric said that if temperatures rise above 45°C, “economic load-shedding” during daytime hours will be immediately suspended to protect citizens from power outages amid extreme heat conditions.
The company also advised residents to stay safe during the heatwave by limiting time in the sun and drinking plenty of water to remain hydrated.
