Punjab to distribute 112,000 laptops under new scheme

LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially launched the Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025, a major step toward promoting digital education and academic excellence.

Under the scheme, laptops will be distributed among students of public sector universities, colleges, and medical or dental institutions across the province.

As part of the plan introduced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, 112,000 high-performance laptops, including 13th-generation Core i7 models, will be distributed to outstanding students starting from October 31, 2025.

Schedule:

  • Registration portal opens: June 2025
  • Application deadline: September 30, 2025

Eligibility Criteria:

The student must be enrolled in a public sector university, college, or medical/dental institute in Punjab

Minimum 65% marks for BS students and 80% for medical/dental students

Applicants who have already received a laptop under previous schemes will not be eligible

Application Process:

Students can apply online by submitting academic details and identification documents. A transparent, merit-based lottery system will finalize recipients.

The scheme will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on September 6, with laptops distributed to students by the end of October.

The initiative is expected to bridge the digital divide by providing access to technology for underprivileged students, enhancing online learning, research, and virtual education. It also aims to encourage academic excellence by linking performance with technological support.

Building on earlier efforts, where 14,000 laptops were distributed in Lahore alone, this expanded program will now reach students across the entire province of Punjab. It reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing education and supporting innovation.

The Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025 also aligns with global trends in digital learning, equipping youth with tools to compete in a technology-driven future while fostering equal opportunities, critical thinking, and academic growth.
