Punjab to launch 50,000 e-bikes and 5,000 e-taxis on interest-free loans

The Punjab government has decided to launch a major program for students and unemployed youth by offering 50,000 electric bikes and 5,000 electric taxis through interest-free financing in the next fiscal year.

According to official sources, the proposal has been approved for inclusion in the upcoming budget. The initiative aims to provide affordable and eco-friendly transportation while creating employment opportunities for young people across the province.

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said that under the e-taxi scheme, eligible applicants will be able to obtain electric taxis through easy installment plans and interest-free financing. He added that beneficiaries will also receive support with registration and other related procedures.

He said the government is focused on empowering youth and encouraging their participation in economic activities through practical programs that can help them earn a sustainable livelihood.

Officials believe the initiative will benefit thousands of young people by improving their employment prospects. At the same time, it will help reduce environmental pollution by promoting the use of electric vehicles.
