Karachi likely to see cloudy skies, drizzle today: Met office

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast cloudy weather in Karachi today (Monday), with chances of drizzle in the evening and night, as per the report.

According to the Met Office, sea breezes have resumed, improving the city’s weather, but high humidity levels are likely to make the daytime feel hotter.

The maximum temperature is expected to reach 34°C. The department also clarified that no heavy rainfall is predicted for Karachi this week.

Meanwhile, parts of Punjab already battered by severe floods are likely to receive heavy rainfall for several days starting today.

The National Emergency Operations Center of NDMA has issued an alert for possible heavy to heavy rains in Islamabad and several districts of Punjab from Monday to Wednesday.

Areas at risk include Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Chiniot, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

Authorities have warned that heavy downpours in the upper regions and rising water levels in rivers may lead to a sharp surge in floodwaters, particularly at Marala Headworks, posing serious risks to surrounding areas.
