TEHRAN: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday that its latest missile barrage on Israel marks a significant shift in the ongoing conflict.
Labeling it a “turning point,” the IRGC claimed the assault signals the beginning of the downfall of what it called the “self-imposed Zionist regime.”
According to the IRGC, this was the 11th round of attacks and involved the use of Fateh-1 hypersonic missiles, which reportedly struck Israeli military installations.
The force stated these high-speed weapons “shook the hideouts of the cowardly Zionists” and showcased Iran’s advancing defense technology.
The IRGC further claimed that Iran had gained “complete control” over Israeli skies and said that Israel’s defense systems were “incapable of intercepting” the missiles.
Amidst the escalating tensions, diplomatic efforts picked up pace. UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a phone conversation with Iran’s newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian.
As reported by state media, the Emirati leader expressed support for Iran in response to what he called Israeli aggression, and stressed his country’s dedication to promoting peace in the region.
“The UAE will continue its efforts for restoring calm in the Middle East,” the UAE president stated, highlighting the importance of cooperation and dialogue between neighboring countries.
At the same time, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a strong warning after recent remarks by former US President Donald Trump and senior Israeli figures.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Khamenei pledged that Iran would respond to threats from the “terrorist Zionist state” with “full strength and no mercy.”
This came after Trump made a provocative claim online, saying he knew the Supreme Leader’s whereabouts and referred to him as “an easy target,” while suggesting the US hadn’t yet taken action.
Separately, reports have emerged alleging that Israel had developed a plan to assassinate Khamenei, plans that were ultimately halted by Trump during his presidency.
