Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has instructed authorities to remove individuals who have illegally obtained Pakistani citizenship from the records of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

During a visit to NADRA headquarters, Minister Naqvi was briefed by the NADRA Chairman on current and upcoming projects. He appreciated NADRA’s performance and its efficient delivery of services to the public.

Highlighting the progress in NADRA’s services over the past two years, Minister Naqvi stressed that modern NADRA offices should be built on owned land instead of rented buildings and requested a master plan to achieve this. He also assured full support from the ministry and coordination with relevant institutions.

The NADRA Chairman shared initiatives to improve citizen services, including the introduction of facial recognition systems for biometric verification, which will require collaboration with other government bodies.

The briefing also revealed that millions of CNICs belonging to deceased individuals have been canceled, and a 30-day timeframe has been set to resolve identity card-related issues. In addition, with help from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), mobile SIMs issued in the names of deceased persons are being blocked.
