The School Education Department of Punjab has announced that all public and private schools across the province will reopen from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, after remaining closed due to the ongoing crisis and fuel-saving measures.

According to the revised plan, schools will follow a five-day week from Monday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday will not have physical classes, though schools can arrange online sessions on these days if possible.

The department has made it clear that exams and assessments will go ahead as per the already announced schedule, so that students’ academic progress is not affected.

Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities have been instructed to make sure the new timetable is followed properly in all schools. The decision is aimed at maintaining continuity in education while managing the current situation, giving both students and teachers a stable routine.

The reopening is seen as an important move for Punjab’s education sector, allowing students to return to classrooms while still adjusting to ongoing challenges.
