Prices of basic food items have risen sharply, making it difficult for citizens to manage everyday expenses, especially due to weak enforcement of official price controls.

Milk and yogurt have been notably affected, with shopkeepers charging above government-set rates in many markets.

According to sources, the official price of milk is Rs170 per liter. However, it is currently being sold in the open market at Rs200 to Rs240 per liter.

In a similar trend, yogurt prices have also gone up, now ranging between Rs220 and Rs250 per kilogram.
