Iran has reportedly tightened its control over the Strait of Hormuz again, according to Al Jazeera, as tensions rise over maritime security and claims of foreign interference in the region.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that what it called an “unofficial U.S. blockade” has been accompanied by air and naval movements it views as violations of sovereignty and security rules. The statement added that the Strait of Hormuz is now under strict control of Iranian armed forces.

The IRGC also warned that these restrictions will stay in place until the United States restores what Iran refers to as “full freedom of movement” for ships traveling to and from Iranian waters. It said there will be no easing of control under the current situation.

Iranian officials further claimed that ongoing restrictions on Iranian ports have led to a more controlled and restrictive security environment in the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key global route for oil shipments.
