Internet slowdowns expected across Pakistan from tomorrow

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has notified its users about a planned maintenance operation to repair a fault in one of its submarine cables.

According to the company, the repair work will be conducted by the International Cable Consortium from May 11, 2026, to May 18, 2026.

During this period, internet users may face slower speeds and occasional disruptions, especially during evening hours. PTCL said the maintenance activity could temporarily impact internet performance and service quality.

The company explained that the repair is necessary to fix the damaged submarine cable and improve the stability and reliability of its internet services in the future. PTCL added that it is working closely with the International Cable Consortium to complete the process as soon as possible.

PTCL also apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that efforts are underway to restore the submarine cable’s performance and provide better internet service once the maintenance work is finished.
