A bridge and road project worth Rs130 million in Dera Ghazi Khan has collapsed just months after being completed, raising serious concerns about the quality of construction.
According to reports, the newly built Bara Bridge and Vador Road were damaged on June 4 after rainfall a day earlier caused a minor flow in the Vador Hill torrent, locally known as Rodh Kohi. The structure failed to withstand the water flow, resulting in the collapse of the bridge and parts of the adjoining road.
The damage has disrupted road access for several nearby settlements, including Bela, Vador Zai, Dilana, Rakh Bela, Wahi Kangrani, and Kocha Wadani, leaving residents cut off from Dera Ghazi Khan city.

Locals say the loss of the main route has created major transportation problems and affected access to essential services. The situation has become more difficult as sections of the road were washed away, while alternative routes remain unsafe or unusable.
Residents have called on authorities to immediately repair the damaged infrastructure and provide temporary travel arrangements for affected communities.
They also alleged that local representatives had previously raised concerns about the use of poor-quality materials and faulty construction practices. Despite these warnings, no action was reportedly taken by the relevant authorities.
The affected communities are now demanding a thorough investigation into possible negligence and corruption, along with strict action against the contractor and officials involved in the project.
