The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is scheduled to visit Pakistan on December 8 and 9, the Foreign Office confirmed on Sunday, marking a significant step in the bilateral relations between the two nations.

A spokesperson said the visit is at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will be accompanied by a high-level delegation of ministers and senior Indonesian officials.

The spokesperson also highlighted that the last presidential visit from Indonesia was in 2018, and this year’s trip is significant as Pakistan and Indonesia mark the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Officials described the visit as an opportunity to strengthen political, economic, and strategic cooperation.

During his stay, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on expanding trade, investment, defence, and cultural partnerships.

He is also set to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and the Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, to enhance defence and security collaboration.

Diplomatic sources expect the visit to lead to renewed commitments and the exploration of new areas of cooperation as both countries aim to deepen their long-standing relationship.
