According to the Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF), the three-day championship will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday at Bahria Town Karachi. The closing ceremony and prize distribution will take place at 4 p.m. on October 11.

The competition will include men’s, women’s, junior, para-cycling and masters categories.

The PCF has introduced an Open Masters category this year, giving cyclists from Karachi and other parts of the country a chance to compete at the national level.

Para-cycling has also been added to the championship to allow cyclists with disabilities to compete nationally and demonstrate their skills.

The federation said accommodation and other necessary arrangements have been made at Bahria Town Karachi for cyclists and officials coming from different parts of the country.

PCF President Syed Azhar Ali Shah said national-level sports events are important for keeping young people involved in positive activities and helping promote cycling across Pakistan.

“In the present circumstances, continuing sporting activities and providing young athletes with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities at the national level is the need of the hour,” Shah said.

He also called on media organisations to give the championship wider coverage, saying stronger media attention would help promote cycling, motivate athletes and showcase the achievements of Pakistani cyclists.
