Reports suggest that a drone attack linked to Iran has hit a facility associated with the Central Intelligence Agency operating inside the US Embassy in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. The attack is said to be part of growing tensions in the region, where American diplomatic locations are increasingly becoming targets.

Sources indicated that the intelligence presence at the embassy compound in Riyadh was affected during the recent strike earlier this week.

The US Embassy in Riyadh faced a drone attack in the early hours of Tuesday when two drones reportedly hit the compound, causing a small fire. Following the incident, security alerts were issued from United States authorities, urging American citizens in a broad area stretching from Egypt eastward to leave the region because of rising security risks and the possibility of more attacks.

Donald Trump stated that the ongoing conflict is progressing faster than expected and hinted at retaliation, saying that a response would come “soon” without giving further details.

The strike in Saudi Arabia is part of a wider pattern of drone activity targeting American diplomatic sites in the Gulf region. Earlier, a drone attack was also reported at the US Consulate in Dubai.

In another development, United States Central Command commander Brad Cooper said that Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and deployed thousands of drones during the escalating tensions.

With drone and missile incidents now being reported across several Gulf countries, the situation is expected to lead to stricter security arrangements at American missions and increase concerns about a wider regional conflict.
