Pakistan is experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures as cold weather tightens its grip across various regions.

Rainfall in the plains and snowfall in the higher areas of Dera have intensified the chill, prompting residents to bundle up in warm clothing for relief.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), snowfall in the northern areas has caused major disruptions.

Roads leading to elevated regions have been blocked, while heavy rain and snow have led to power outages and tripping feeders, leaving streets waterlogged.

Businesses and households are struggling to cope with these weather-related difficulties.

In Swat, the effects of the weather are particularly noticeable. The lower areas continue to receive rainfall, while intermittent snowfall persists in the upper regions.

Over the past 24 hours, Mingora, Saidu Sharif, and Kabal have seen sporadic rain, while Kalam, Gabral, Mahodand, and nearby areas have been blanketed in heavy snow.

Despite the cold spell, routes to the upper areas remain accessible, though authorities have warned about potential landslides.

The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has advised against travel beyond Sharda due to high landslide risks.

While the Neelum Highway from Sharda to Toubat has reopened, officials urge locals and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel in these hazardous conditions.

In Quetta, temperatures have dropped to 7°C, with humidity recorded at 33%. The PMD has forecast rain and thunderstorms in the city and surrounding areas, adding to the unsettled weather conditions.

Meanwhile, Karachi is expected to remain hot and dry over the next 24 hours, with temperatures ranging between 20.5°C and 39°C.

Light northeastern winds are passing through the city, with humidity at 70%, but no significant rainfall is expected.

In Punjab, cloudy weather is predicted for multiple districts, including Lahore, while light rain is expected in parts of Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions.

Lahore is likely to experience a mix of cloud cover and sunshine today, with little chance of rain.

However, from March 11 to 13, the province is expected to see cloudy weather with light showers in different areas, followed by additional rain on March 14 and 15.

Despite the forecast, Lahore remained dry yesterday, and no significant rain is expected today.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory, cautioning that rain will continue in various parts of the region from March 9 to March 16.
