The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have launched a nationwide crackdown on individuals and businesses involved in the illegal sale of pre-activated foreign SIM cards.

In an official statement, the PTA emphasized that these coordinated raids are part of ongoing measures to combat telecom-related fraud and enhance national security.

The operations took place in multiple cities, including Abbottabad, Skardu, Peshawar, Lahore, and Sialkot.

Authorities specifically targeted those engaged in the illegal sale and distribution of foreign SIM cards, which were allegedly being used for fake activities, unverified communications, and other illegal purposes.

Several suspects were taken into custody during the raids, and a large number of unlawfully activated SIM cards were confiscated.

PTA and FIA emphasized that the unauthorized sale of these SIMs poses a significant risk to public safety, as they enable untraceable and anonymous communications that can be misused for criminal activities.

Both agencies confirmed their commitment to monitoring and preventing such illegal trade of SIM, warning that strict action will continue against those violating telecom regulations.
