Islamabad saw a light spell of rain on Saturday morning, offering a short break from the intense heatwave that had gripped the city this June, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 45°C on June 11, one of the hottest days ever recorded.

Earlier, the Met Office had forecast pre-monsoon showers for cities like Islamabad and Rawalpindi between June 20 and 23, adding that the extreme heat is expected to ease gradually over the coming days.
