Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for recognizing and appreciating Pakistan’s contributions to counter-terrorism efforts in the region.
The acknowledgment by the US president came in the Pakistan’s security forces successfully capturing ISKP’s senior operational commander, Shareefullah, an Afghan national, in an operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Sharing the news on his X timeline, PM Shehbaz highlighted this significant achievement.
“Tonight, I am pleased to announce that we have just apprehended the top terrorist responsible for that atrocity…I want to thank especially the government of Pakistan for helping arrest this monster,” he stated.
PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding role in global counter-terrorism efforts, emphasizing the country’s commitment to denying terrorists and militant groups any space to operate against other nations.
He also reminded the world of Pakistan’s immense sacrifices in this fight, with over 80,000 brave soldiers and civilians losing their lives in the battle against terrorism.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to eliminating terrorism in all its forms, he assured that the nation’s leadership and people remained resolute in their mission.
“The resolve of our leadership and our people remains unflinching, to eradicate the menace of terrorism from our country. We will continue to partner closely with the United States in securing regional peace and stability,” he concluded.
