Banker Zafar Masud, one of the two survivors of the 2020 PIA plane crash in Karachi, shared memories of that fateful which closed in his memoir, Seat 1C: A Survivor’s Tale of Hope, Resilience, and Renewal.
The book, written in collaboration with Syeda Amna Hasan, was officially launched on Saturday at the Lahore Literary Festival.
When asked about his motivation for writing the memoir, Masud shared, “Actually, I thought that these are such unique learnings that, God forbid, no one should ever have to confront or face them.
I wanted to share my post-crash learnings – to tell people what it feels like when you come so close to death, how your life changes, and what your life priorities should be.”
During the discussion, he was also asked about living a life free of regrets, especially for those who seek to dedicate themselves to their faith.
Masud explained that there is no universal answer since each person’s priorities are shaped by their own values and choices.
However, he stressed the importance of selecting priorities that create a meaningful impact and contribute to the well-being of others.
He highlighted that personal aspirations should never come at the cost of another person’s happiness, prosperity, or welfare.
