Pakistan continues to face challenges related to the availability of essential components needed for the 5G spectrum auction, which is scheduled for April. The schedule for the launch of 5G services in the country has been presented in parliament.
According to a report by The News, referencing documents from the Ministry of IT and Telecom, telecom companies across Pakistan are expected to provide 5G services by June 2025.
The National Economic Research Associates (NERA), which has been engaged by Pakistan to assist with the 5G implementation, will submit its recommendations to the Spectrum Advisory Committee next month.
Based on the recommendations provided by NERA, the committee is expected to finalize and implement necessary adjustments related to spectrum pricing, trading regulations, and taxation.
As mentioned in the report, the federal government will review and approve the proposed policy framework in April, followed by the auction of the 3500 MHz, 2600 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 700 MHz spectrum bands in May.
Meeting these essential milestones on time will allow telecom operators across the country to introduce 5G services by June 2025.
The document further mentions that the Ministry of IT aims to bring significant advancements to the telecom sector by launching 5G services to provide high-speed and uninterrupted internet connectivity throughout Pakistan.
