The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has reportedly approved the construction of two new international airport in Sukkur and  Muzaffarabad, with both projects expected to completed  in the next five years.

According to sources, a special committee has been set up to manage land acquisition for the planned sites, and early development work is already underway under the PAA’s Works and Development Department.

The initiative, which has a combined cost of Rs 2 billion, aims to boost regional connectivity and strengthen the nation’s air travel infrastructure. Technical consultants and external experts will assist throughout the design and construction process.

The Sukkur International Airport will cater to travelers in upper Sindh, while the Muzaffarabad International Airport will offer better air access to Azad Jammu and Kashmir. These are considered major infrastructure moves by the federal government.

This development comes shortly after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to conduct a feasibility study for another international airport in Mirpur, an initiative sparked by a formal request from British Members of Parliament addressed to the prime minister.
