The federal government has announced a 60-day ban on the import and export of gold, diamonds, gemstones, and jewellery, effective immediately.
The Ministry of Commerce has issued official directives regarding this decision. According to a notification from the ministry, a previous order that governed the trade of precious stones and jewellery, initially issued under SRO No. 760()/2013, has been temporarily suspended for the next two months.
A senior official at the Ministry of Commerce confirmed that this measure halts the cross-border movement of gold, diamonds, jewellery, and gemstones for a period of 60 days.
