LAHORE: Students aiming for careers in medicine and dentistry have ramped up their study efforts as the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 draws closer, with news reports hinting at its likely schedule.
MDCAT is a compulsory entrance exam in Pakistan for those seeking admission to medical and dental colleges.
It is administered by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and assesses students in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English.
The test is a requirement for entry into both government and private institutions, and competition is fierce, with thousands participating each year.
MDCAT helps ensure that admissions are based on merit, which is crucial for maintaining standards in medical education. Success depends heavily on solid preparation and a clear grasp of the prescribed syllabus.
MDCAT 2025 Expected Date
According to emerging reports, this year’s test is expected to be scheduled between September 21 and 30.
New Rules and Regulations
Earlier this month, PMDC introduced revised rules for the MDCAT. Students must now score at least 65 percent in FSC to qualify for admission to medical or dental colleges.
Additionally, candidates are only allowed to sit for the test in the province where they hold a domicile.
“A domicile holder of one province will not be able to take the MDCAT exam in another province.” For those taking the test from abroad, Riyadh will be the sole examination center.
Officials have confirmed that the MDCAT this year will follow these updated regulations.
