Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who once again called for fresh elections.

According to the source, the JUI-F chief presented the opposition’s demand for a new electoral process, maintaining his long-standing stance on the matter.

He expressed his concerns about the current government setup, stating that he does not recognize its legitimacy. He argued that holding fresh elections would help remove the allegations of rigging.

Sources further revealed that Maulana Fazl reaffirmed his commitment to the opposition alliance’s position.

In response, PM Shehbaz Sharif urged him to cooperate, but the JUI-F leader remained determined in his demand.

The prime minister requested time for further discussions before making any commitments, sources added.

This followed a Grand Opposition Alliance meeting, led by PTI, where leaders discussed the political landscape and strategies to strengthen their movement against the government.

The meeting was held at PTI leader Asad Qaiser’s Islamabad residence, attended by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Mahmood Achakzai, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar.

Other notable attendees included Allama Nasir Abbas, Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and Asad Qaiser.

Discussions centered on the main political situation and potential plans for forming a broader alliance against the government.

The leaders also considered a strategic course of action, signaling a coordinated effort to address national concerns.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman further demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, citing alleged rigging in the elections held on February 8 last year.
