Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit Peshawar and nearby areas early Wednesday, causing street flooding and disrupting daily routines.

The rain began around 6:30 AM and lasted for an hour, leaving roads submerged. Dark clouds continue to hang over the city, following a drizzle and strong winds on Tuesday.

The rainy weather isn’t limited to Peshawar, Dir and Chitral have been experiencing rain for the past two days.

In Chitral, snowfall returned overnight, blanketing the mountains in fresh white layers. The cold and damp conditions have forced residents in Chitral, Dir, Swat, and other hilly regions to bring out their winter clothing once again.

Humidity remains high, with Chitral at 100%, Dir at 93%, and Peshawar at 90%, intensifying the chilly atmosphere.

Rain is expected to continue in Chitral, Dir, Malam Jabba, and Abbottabad until the weekend, while Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan are likely to see clearer skies by Friday.

The weather department has also warned of potential disruptions in mountainous routes due to intermittent rain and snowfall in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, Punjab is also set to experience light rain and breezy conditions over the next two days.

According to the meteorological department, rainfall is expected in Murree (17-19°C), Bahawalpur (37-39°C), Dera Ghazi Khan (29-31°C), Multan (32-34°C), Chakwal (29-31°C), Faisalabad (32-34°C), Sargodha (29-31°C), Lahore (33-35°C), Attock (30-32°C), Rawalpindi (28-30°C), Jhelum (28-30°C), and Sahiwal (34-36°C) on Wednesday and Thursday.

Humidity levels remain high, with Multan at 91%, Bahawalpur at 75%, and Jhelum at 73%, making the weather feel warmer. By Friday, most cities will see clear skies, with temperatures rising by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

In Lahore, temperatures are expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C during the rainy period but will increase to 35-37°C on Friday as the sun returns.

While the showers may offer temporary relief, humidity at 71% will keep conditions warm and sticky.

Meteorologists say that the scattered rainfall will help improve air quality and create a more comfortable atmosphere in Punjab.
