College teachers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced a province-wide suspension of academic activities in protest against what they described as bureaucratic overreach in colleges located in Bannu and Peshawar.

The protest comes after demands for a formal apology from authorities went unmet. Teachers have also threatened a complete boycott of the upcoming intermediate exams starting May 7 if their concerns are not addressed.

Professor Abdul Hameed Afridi, President of the College Teachers Association, stated that classes in all public sector colleges were suspended on Friday as a mark of protest.

He made it clear that teachers “would not tolerate administrative injustices and disrespect under any circumstances.”

The association criticized the recent behavior of deputy commissioners at Government Degree College Domail in Bannu and Superior Science College in Peshawar, calling their conduct “highly inappropriate and unacceptable.”

Professor Afridi called on the Chief Secretary to take urgent notice and strict disciplinary action against those responsible, reiterating that failure to act would lead to a boycott of the intermediate exams scheduled for May 7.
