Karachi has been experiencing an unexpected drop in temperature, with the minimum recorded at 13.1°C, which is 6.3°C lower than the usual March average of 19.4°C, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The city is currently facing extremely dry conditions, with humidity levels dropping to just 13%.

Light, dry northeasterly winds continue to blow at a slow pace, while the maximum temperature for today is expected to range between 30°C and 31°C. These dry conditions are predicted to persist for the next 24 hours.

Various areas of Karachi recorded colder-than-usual night-time temperatures, with Mauripur seeing the lowest at 10°C, followed by Jinnah Terminal at 11.5°C, Port Qasim at 13.6°C, Gulistan-e-Johar at 13.2°C, and Sharea Faisal at 12.5°C.

The cold wave extended beyond Karachi, affecting other parts of Sindh, where temperatures dropped well below seasonal norms.

Mohenjo Daro recorded just 3°C, an astonishing 11.1°C below its typical March temperature.

Other Sindh regions, including Mithi, Mirpurkhas, and Chhor, experienced temperatures ranging from 3.5°C to 7°C, while Sukkur, Sakrand, and Paddidan recorded 7.5°C.

The PMD forecasts that these unseasonably cold conditions may persist in Sindh over the coming days.

Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is also facing cold and dry weather across most districts, possibly dense fog in some plains.

Peshawar recorded a temperature of 8°C, while the mountainous areas are dealing with freezing conditions, with Kalam dropping to -4°C, Malam Jabba to -3°C, Parachinar to -2°C, Lower Chitral at 0°C, and Dir Bala at 1°C.

The PMD predicts this cold and dry weather will continue for several more days. Fog may develop in plains, while the severe cold in northern regions is expected to persist without any significant rise in temperatures soon.
