Joey King is currently recovering after suffering from a cooking accident that left her with multiple blisters on her face and neck.
The Kissing Booth actress took to Instagram to share photos of her burns, explaining the incident.
“I burned myself a few days ago by throwing shallots into a pan of hot oil,” King wrote in her post. Her mother humorously replied, “See, that’s why I hate cooking.”
Despite the painful injuries, King remains positive. This isn’t her first-time skin issues—she has also been open about her struggle with perioral dermatitis, a condition that causes red bumps around the mouth, nose, and eyes.
Last year, King talked about her ongoing skincare journey, revealing that she had stopped using prescription treatments but was still uncertain about how to handle flare-ups.
This recent mishap has made King more mindful about kitchen safety, especially when dealing with hot oil.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, untreated first-degree burns can lead to pain and scarring.
It seems that she’s following the recommended care, including applying cool water, petroleum jelly, and using sun protection.
While King recently experimented with bold beauty choices, like dyeing her eyebrows for a magazine event (which her mother wasn’t too fond of), right now, her main focus is on healing.
Fans have shown their support in the comments, wishing her a speedy recovery.
