The Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) has unexpectedly postponed the intermediate exams just a day before they were due to start, citing “unavoidable reasons.”

While the board hasn’t offered specifics, media reports suggest the delay was triggered by a teachers’ boycott that disrupted exam preparations.

Sources say the teachers’ refusal to take part in exam duties left the board unable to proceed, with no new date announced yet.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the Board of Intermediate Education has also pushed back its exams to after May 6, 2025.

The delay is linked to the absence of the board chairman and the unavailability of examination halls, which are still being used for matriculation exams until May 2.

Reports also highlight that approval is still pending for nearly 300 exam centers, while more than 27,000 exam forms haven’t been fully processed, and tabulation work has hit snags due to administrative issues.

As a result, students in both Balochistan and Sindh are left in limbo, uncertain about when or how their exams will take place.
