KARACHI: The Pakistani government has officially announced the number of pilgrims set to perform Hajj under the government scheme this year.

During a press conference in Lahore, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, confirmed that 90,000 individuals will perform Hajj through the official scheme.

Speaking about the Hajj arrangements, the minister stated that Hajj flights are expected to commence from April 29. He noted that preparations are well in progress, including necessary vaccinations and training programs.

Regarding training, he shared that sessions for pilgrims will begin on April 8, where they will be guided on important health precautions and vaccination requirements.

The minister further mentioned that he met with Saudi officials to review arrangements for the pilgrimage. He clarified that Umrah visa issuance is generally paused ahead of Hajj to ensure smooth travel and logistics.

For this year, the government has fixed the cost of short-term Hajj at Rs1,150,000, while the long-term Hajj package is priced at Rs1,050,000. Pakistan has been allotted a total of 179,210 seats for Hajj 2025, which also includes the quota for private tour operators.
